At a Glance
The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute (WRI) of the University of Arkansas System was established in July 2005 with a grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Charitable Trust. The educational institute and conference center is located on Petit Jean Mountain near Morrilton, on the grounds of former Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller’s cattle farm. The institute is a separate tax-exempt corporation with facilities leased to the university. Its mission is to serve as a catalyst for furthering the mission of the University of Arkansas and carrying on the legacy of Gov. Rockefeller by bringing together people of diverse ideas and interests to address subjects of state, regional, national and international importance.
Points of Pride
- In 2013, the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute hosted nearly 12,000 people for conferences, meetings and programs.
- The Institute is the only conference center in Arkansas that is a member of the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC).
- In 2013, the Institute was awarded “Best Place for a Company Retreat” by the readers of Arkansas Business. This was the fourth time in five years the Institute was given this award.
