As part of an ongoing review of Board of Trustees’ policies, the General Counsel’s Office is recommending updates to several employment policies to be considered at the next Board of Trustees meeting on March 17-18. The policies up for amendment have not been reviewed and updated for a number of years. They include:
- Board Policy 405.2 Offset of Amounts Due to the University – The proposed edits include minor clarifications and formatting changes to make the policy easier to follow.
- Board Policy 410.1 Nepotism and Related Conflicts of Interest – The proposed amendments are meant to bring the policy in line with current state law, clarify policy language and to format the policy to make it easier to follow. UPDATE: Consideration of changes to Board Policy 410.1 will be DELAYED until the May 2021 meeting.
- Board Policy 435.1 Faculty Pay and Salary Conversion – The proposed amended policy combines current policy 435.1 regarding salary conversions between nine and 12-month appointments and 435.2, which allows nine-month faculty the option to receive their salaries in equal 12-month installments. The proposed edits are meant to clarify policy language, provide more detail regarding compensation for summer employment and to format the policy to make it easier to follow.
- Board Policy 455.1 Off-Campus Assignments – The proposed edits clarify the role of the Chancellors and Chief Executive Officers in establishing off-campus assignments for staff.
Feedback on the proposed policy amendments can be submitted by emailing feedback@uasys.edu by the end of February.
