80-2802. BOARD OF TRUSTEES ‑ APPOINTMENT ‑ TERM NUMBER OF MEMBERS ‑ QUALIFICATIONS.

The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas shall consist of ten (10) members. One (1) member shall be appointed from each of the seven (7) congressional districts in the State, and three (3) members shall be appointed from the State at large. The Governor shall appoint said Trustees. Such appointments shall be with the consent of the Senate, except as provided in section 5 of Amendment 33. The term of office shall be ten (10) years, with one (1) term of office expiring and one (1) new term beginning on May 1 of every year after the year 1943. In case of the increase or decrease of the number of Congressional districts in the State, the number of members appointed from the State at large shall accordingly be increased or decreased by the Governor, so that as soon as can be legally effected, there shall be one (1) member from each congressional district in the State. The members who are appointed to the said Board of Trustees from the State at large shall be alumni of the University of Arkansas. 3-406. EFFECT OF REDUCTION OF CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS ON STATE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS.

If the number of congressional districts in this State shall be reduced to fewer than six (6), the members of all boards and commissions of this State, including the Legislative Council and the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee, who are selected or apportioned on the basis of congressional districts, shall continue to be selected or apportioned upon the basis of the six (6) congressional districts, as established by Act 297 of 1951 (repeated) until otherwise specifically provided by law.
