The Office of General Counsel is in the process of studying new concealed carry laws and determining necessary policy changes that will need to be made at the System and campus levels.

The passage of HB1249 (Act 562) and SB724 (Act 859), which changed laws regarding carrying concealed handguns on college campuses and elsewhere, prompted many questions about the impact these laws will have across the University of Arkansas System. While many updates and additions will be necessary moving forward, JoAnn Maxey, general counsel of the University of Arkansas System, has begun the process of compiling and answering questions regarding many of the issues facing campuses.
