Linked below are drafts of five revised Board Policies that will be presented for consideration at the September 18, 2026, regular Board of Trustees meeting. These drafts are released in accordance with UA System Policy 220.1, which requires proposed Board Policy amendments to be shared with the Board and the Chancellors and chief executives of the campus, divisions, and units at least 30 days before the Board meeting at which the policies will be considered. Questions or feeback regarding these proposed policy amendments can be directed to the appropriate system staff via the President’s Office or Ben Beaumont (bbeaumont@uasys.edu).
The proposed policy amendments include:
Revised Board Policy 100.4 Rules and Regulations of the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas – Amendments are proposed to Chapter II., Section 4 of the policy regarding the descriptions of several Board committees. The amendments include revisions to the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and University Hospital Committee to align the descriptions with the current practice. The revisions also include renaming the Distance Education and Technology Committee to the Technology Committee and changing the committee’s scope to focus on oversight of enterprise technology, major IT investments, digital capabilities and cybersecurity.
Revised Board Policy 300.1 Contracting Authority – Amendments are proposed for structure and clarity to Section VII regarding agreements for the use and/or possession of real property. New language to the section also would allow the President the ability to delegate granting of utility easements to the Chancellor or chief executive officer of each campus with a requirement that the granting of such easements be reported to the Board at its next regular meeting.
Revised Board Policy 420.1 Annual Leave – New language is proposed clarifying that an employee’s final date of employment shall not be extended solely for the purpose of exhausting accrued annual or sick leave to receive continued compensation or benefits. New language also prevents lump-sum terminal payments unless an employee terminates employment with the University.
Revised Board Policy 420.6 Leave Without Pay – Amended language clarifies that a campus, division, or unit may suspend or place an employee in leave-without-pay status for disciplinary reasons. The changes align the policy with current practice.
Revised Board Policy 520.4 Registration Fees and Tuition – Proposed new language exempts “pass-through” fees from requiring Board approval.
